Riggs Motorsports Returns to Action in MARS/UMP Challenge Races HARRISBURG, IL (August 28) - Both Brian Shirley and Jason Riggs resumed their 2014 campaigns on Friday night, August 22 in the annual running of the 'USA World 50' at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky. The MARS/UMP Challenge race drew a strong field of cars for the $5,000 to win special. Brian won his heat race in preliminary action, led the first seven circuits of the feature, and eventually wound up seventh in the final rundown. Jason also took home a heat race victory and was running third early in the feature when he was spun out by another competitor. The Harrisburg, Illinois native retired with heavy front end damage and was relegated to a disappointing seventeenth place effort at PIR.
On Saturday evening, August 23, Brian was the lone Riggs Motorsports driver in competition at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, as another $5,000 top prize was on the line in a MARS/UMP Challenge tilt. Brian once again scored the win in his heat race, but later suffered problems early in the 40-lap headliner. The Chatham, Illinois ace was an early retiree and was placed twenty-first in the final finishing order. Full results from both weekend races can be accessed online at

The upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend will see the #81 teams split up, as Brian Shirley will stay in the Land of Lincoln, while Jason Riggs will venture south to the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. Brian is scheduled to enter a pair of $3,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) and Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series co-sanctioned events on Friday at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and on Saturday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. Jason, on the other hand, is slated to compete for a $3,000 payday on Saturday, August 30 at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky.
