Tony Jackson Jr. Wins Belt Bash Non-Qualifier's Race at I-80

by Ben Shelton
LEBANON, Missouri (July 23) – Tony Jackson Jr. notched his third win of the season on Saturday night in his #56 TJR Motorsports/ RLB Financial/Rocket/ Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model in the $3,000-to-win, Belt Bash Non-Qualifier's Race contested during the 4th Annual Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). While most driver's would've been happy to call it a night with the nice payday, Jackson Jr. had other plans on his mind.

"$3,000 is a nice little check, but we came here to run for $30,000 so I'm forfeiting this win and instead taking the option to start on the tail of the main event," Jackson Jr. told the approving capacity crowd on Saturday night at the 1/2 mile oval as he stood in victory lane moments after topping the Belt Bash.

As a result Tony started a daunting 34th on the grid for the 80 lap, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) finale. In the feature Jackson Jr. raced to as high as the fifteenth position before ultimately retiring early from the race to a 20th place finish.

Earlier in the week on Tuesday evening the team also competed with the LOLMDS tour in a $10,000-to-win affair at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas).  Tony battled the handle throughout the night before missing the feature by a single spot as his night came to an early end.
Full results from the weekend are available at www.LucasDirt.com .

The upcoming weekend will see the team taking a break before returning to action August 1st-2nd with a pair of Mid America Racing Series events in Oklahoma and Kansas. Action opens on Friday, August 1st at Outlaw Motorsports Park (Muskogee, Oklahoma) before moving to Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kansas) on Saturday, August 2nd. Tony continues to lead the series standings. For more information on the events please visit www.MARSRacingSeries.com .
