Jimmy Mars Earns Five Figure Windfall for Wild West Tour Victory at Hibbing Raceway MENOMONIE, WISC (July 15) - Jimmy Mars recorded his sixth career World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory in the first leg of the annual "Wild West Tour" last Thursday night, July 10 at Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, Minnesota! Jimmy qualified fourth fastest in Group B during the time trial session and later finished second in his heat race. After drawing the pole position prior to the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap headliner, Jimmy fell back several spots before eventually tracking down race leader Darrell Lanigan on lap 38. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then led the remainder of the distance to secure the $10,000 payday ahead of Tim McCreadie, Darrell Lanigan, Morgan Bagley, and Chub Frank!
Following a rain-out on Saturday at Deer Creek Speedway, the #28 team returned to action on Sunday, July 13 at the Spring Valley, Minnesota facility in the annual running of the prestigious 'Gopher 50.' Jimmy knocked down the tenth fastest lap during qualifying prior to running third in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fourth row in the $10,000 to win main event, Jimmy eventually claimed a solid eighth place effort in the 'Gopher 50.' Complete results from both of these races can be viewed online at

"It was good to get back up to Hibbing and to win their first-ever Outlaws race," stated Mars yesterday via telephone. "That is a place that we used to race at quite a bit on a local level growing up and they have a lot of passionate fans up there in that area. We are getting our program closer and closer to where we need to be and anytime you can beat guys like Lanigan, Eckert, and McCreadie - that makes you feel good about the direction you are going. We have had a long couple of months since (family friend) Marnie Clement passed away from cancer on May 14, but I want to dedicate the Hibbing win to her and her family!"
The four-race "Wild West Tour" with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will wrap up this week with two more $10,000 top prizes on the line in the states of South Dakota and North Dakota. Things will heat back up tonight, July 15 at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota, while the final leg of the "Wild West Tour" will take Mars Racing to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, July 18. Both stops will feature a complete racing program headlined by a 50-lap main event. Additional information on both Brown County and River Cities can be obtained by pointing your web browser to
