Ray Cook Claims Podium Finish at Dixie Speedway; Pair of Races this Weekend
 
BRASSTOWN, NC (July 2) - Ray Cook and his #53 team strolled into the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday evening, June 28 for an unsanctioned Super Late Model program, which boasted a $2,000 top prize.  Ray laid down the second quickest lap during the qualifying session, which locked him directly into the outside of the front row for the start of the 30-lap feature event.  After leading the field for the first eighteen circuits, Ray lost a couple of spots on restarts and eventually wound up in the third position behind only victor Michael Page and runner-up Donald McIntosh.  Complete results from the Atlanta-area speedplant can be accessed online at www.dixiespeedway.com.
 
The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" will head to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama on Thursday, July 3 to hook back up with Tommy Pope Racing.  A regular weekly show for the Super Late Models will be held tomorrow evening and a $1,200 winner's check will be on the line.  Ray will then be back in his own equipment on Saturday, July 5 at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee.  A $5,000 to win Southern Nationals Bonus Race is planned for "The Taz" on Saturday.  Additional information about both of these programs can be viewed by clicking on www.talladegashorttrack.com and www.southernnationalsseries.com.
