Bub McCool Tames the Greenville Gumbo for First Win of '14

VICKSBURG, MS (June 10) – Bub McCool piloted his #57J McCool Logging/Schaeffer Oil/Victory Circle/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to his first win of 2014 on Saturday night with a $2,500 triumph at Greenville Speedway.

Bub McCool overcome his early season struggles on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), in a Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at the 1/4 mile oval.

A strong field of thirty-four Super Late Model competitors were on the grounds, and after qualifying fourth in his group Bub went on to finish seventh in the dash. As a result he would start seventh on the grid for the 50 lap finale.

During the course of the feature McCool progressively worked his way forward, reeling in early leader, Timothy Culp as he looked to make a bid for the top spot. Heavy traffic allowed Culp to pull away with fifteen to go, but it wasn't long before McCool was able to run him down again as Culp began to battle a rapidly deflating tire.  On lap 40 a crossover move from Culp retained him the advantage before McCool was able to assume the point with eight laps remaining.  Despite lap traffic and a slight brush with the wall in the closing laps, McCool held on for the checkered flag.  He was followed across the finish line by Culp, Brian Rickman, Rick Rickman, and Dane Dacus.
