Ray Cook Ready for Bill Ingram Memorial Following Trip to Florence Speedway

BRASSTOWN, NC (June 5) - Ray Cook and the Tommy Pope Racing team ventured to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 31 for the 28th edition of the 'Ralph Latham Memorial.'  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the historic race, which drew 36 entries all vying for the $10,000 top prize.  Ray started off his night by clicking off the seventh quickest time in Group B during qualifying and later finishing second in his heat race behind only prelim victor Duane Chamberlain.

The Brasstown, North Carolina native was then scheduled to start the 50-lap feature event from the outside of the third row, but a misunderstanding in the tire rule for the event sent him pitside for a different compound on the right front and left rear of his #53 MasterSbilt entry.  Ray returned to the track for the start of the race, but was forced to start from the tail end of the stellar field.  At the conclusion of the 'Ralph Latham Memorial,' the popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" had made it back up to the sixteenth position.  Complete results from Florence Speedway can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Ray will unload his own equipment this Saturday night, June 7 at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.  The annual running of the 'Bill Ingram Memorial' will be held in two day's time at the D-shaped venue and a $3,000 winner's check will be on the line.  Ray is the defending winner of the 'Bill Ingram Memorial' and will be seeking to add another title to his resume this weekend.  Additional information on Dixie Speedway can be found by pointing your web browser to www.dixiespeedway.com.
