Dale McDowell Streaks to Pair of Memorial Weekend Wins; Dream 100 Next

by Ben Shelton
WELCOME, North Carolina (May 28) – Team Dillon Racing and Dale McDowell enjoyed a great Memorial Day weekend as they claimed a pair of wins with their #17m TDR/Warrior/ECR Racing Engine Super Late Model.

After a weekend away from the track, Dale McDowell returned to the driver’s seat on Friday night at Boyd's Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia).  A series record of fifty-three Super Late Models were on hand for the $4,000-to-win program, which was sanctioned by the Old Man's Garage (OMG) Spring Nationals tour.  Dale posted the fast time overall during qualifications, locking him into the outside pole position alongside Stacy Boles for the feature.  When the 40 lap main event went green, McDowell took to the point and never looked back en route to the victory over Billy Ogle Jr, Ivedent Lloyd Jr., Donald McIntosh, and Jamie Perry.

Saturday night found the team pitted at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) for another round of Old Man's Garage (OMG) Spring Nationals competition.  A stout field of forty-three entries registered for battle, and Dale once again blazed to fast time honors with a lap of 15.081 seconds during qualifications.  McDowell's efforts during preliminaries earned him the outside pole position alongside Brent Dixon for the $4,000-to-win main event.  Dale jumped to the race lead at the drop of the green flag with Billy Ogle Jr. in tow. The duo raced one-two throughout the course of the event, with Ogle keeping pace but never able to mount a serious charge.  McDowell led every lap for his third straight victory with the tour, which came over Billy Ogle Jr., Casey Roberts, Austin Kirkpatrick, and Randy Weaver.

"It was just a phenomenal weekend for our team," said McDowell.  "I want to dedicate our victories over the holiday weekend not only to our sponsors, but also to all of the men and women, who fight daily around the world to allow us to enjoy this sport. Without their courage and devotion we wouldn't get this great privilege."

Team Dillon Racing currently has no plans for the upcoming weekend as they turn their attention to the rapidly approaching 20th Annual Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), which will be held June 5th-7th.  Thursday's program includes twin $2,500-to-win features, while Friday's will be highlighted by twin $5,000-to-win affairs.  On Saturday evening all eyes will turn to the famed, 1/2 mile oval as a $100,000 top prize goes on the line.  For more information on the event, please visit www.EldoraSpeedway.com .
