Kent Robinson Wins at Bloomington; Florence Next by Ben Shelton
BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (May 28) – After a weekend away from the track Kent Robinson returned to the seat of the #85 Jones Oil/Bandit Race Car Open Wheel Modified on Friday night at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) in the Josh Burton Memorial, where he came away with his first win of the year.
Twenty competitors entered the event, and Robinson started his night by winning the second heat race to earn the outside pole position for the feature with Devin Gilpin alongside. K-Rob assumed the point at the drop of the green flag, and fought off a hard charging Gilpin for the victory. Gilpin settled in second followed by Derek Groomer, Jake Humphrey, and Jesse Cramer rounding out the top five finishers. Full results from the event are available at

Sunday evening found the team pitted at the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the American Late Model Series (ALMS) sanctioned Johnny Appleseed Classic. Robinson earned the fourth starting spot for his heat race via his qualifying efforts and charged to the win, earning him the third starting position on the grid for the finale. During the course of the 25 lap feature K-Rob battled at the front of the pack in his #7r JB's Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine before crossing the finish line in third behind race winner, Matt Miller and Jeep Van Wormer. The weekend drew to a close on Monday evening as Kent returned to the seat of the #85 Jones Oil/Bandit Race Car Open Wheel Modified at Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana). Twenty-eight UMP Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event and by way of a heat race win, Robinson locked into the fourth starting spot for the 20 lap feature.
