Riggs Motorsports Ready for Speedweeks Events at Golden Isles and East Bay

HARRISBURG, IL (February 1) - The Riggs Motorsports team, which is based out of Harrisburg, Illinois, is locked and loaded for a busy start to their 2014 racing season.  Both Jason Riggs and new team driver Brian Shirley will head south to Georgia and Florida shortly for "Speedweeks."  The two talented Illinois drivers both plan to enter the nine (9) Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series races that are scheduled for Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia and East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida from February 6-15.

Up first for the #81 team will be a visit to Golden Isles for the 'Super Bowl of Racing' on February 6-8.  A $5,000 top prize will be on the line in Thursday's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series opener, which will be a non-points event.  The first two point races for the LOLMDS will take place at GIS on Friday and Saturday with both weekend tilts paying $10,000 to the winner.  In addition, the final two programs of the 'Super Bowl of Racing' will be filmed by the Lucas Oil Production Studios for broadcast on the MAVTV Network in 2014.

Following Brunswick, the dirt-slinging action will shift further south to East Bay Raceway Park from February 10-15 for the 38th Annual 'Winternationals.'  The six LOLMDS battles at the "Clay by the Bay" will feature over $200,000 in purse money, with the winner's receiving between $5,000 and $10,000 each night.  History will be made on Thursday, February 13 at the 1/3-mile oval when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will air LIVE on the MAVTV Network at 9:30 PM EST.  The Friday and Saturday showdowns at East Bay, which both pay $10,000 to win, will also be taped by the Lucas Oil Production Studios for broadcast later in the year.

While both Jason Riggs and Brian Shirley will look to start their respective 2014 campaigns with a fast start, the stakes are a little higher for the newest Riggs Motorsports driver.  Brian, who was the 2012 UMP National Champion and UMP Summer Nationals Champion, plans to follow the entire Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule in hopes of competing for a National Championship with the premier sanctioning body.  Additional information on the events at Golden Isles Speedway and East Bay Raceway Park can be found online by pointing your web browser to www.lucasdirt.com, www.goldenislesspeedway.com, and www.eastbayracewaypark.com.
