Steve Francis Clean Sweeps the 2014 Moyle Engines USA Invasion Tour

ELLENBROOK, W.A. (January 11) - Steve Francis has clean swept the 2014 Moyle Engines Late Model USA Invasion Tour with another dominating performance in the final round at Ellenbrook Speedway last night (11th January 2014).

Francis led the thirty lap main event from start to finish and showed the Western Australian public why he is considered one of the world’s best Dirt Late Model drivers.

Twenty Four Late Models were on hand for the third and final round of the Moyle Engines USA Invasion Tour with the race meeting ran in scorching hot temperatures.

The four heat races were contested in very hot weather conditions with the opening heat race setting the scene for a fantastic night of Late Model action.

American Steve Casebolt, Craig Vosbergen and Warren Oldfield had a fantastic three car battle for the lead with Vosbergen narrowly defeating Casebolt and Oldfield.

Steve Francis and Jeremy Payne dominated heat two with the Americans finishing a long way in front of the rest of the field.

Jason Oldfield drove an outstanding race in heat three to win by a big margin with Nat Muir holding Steve Francis for a second in what was an outstanding battle for most of the race.

The final heat race saw Steve Casebolt show his true class with an comprehensive victory over Western Australian Champion Marc Giancola and Craig Vosbergen.

Three dash races would be contested with Steve Francis, Warren Oldfield and Collie’s Paul Joss all scoring victories.

The A main for the third and final round of the Moyle Engines USA Invasion Tour would be held under lights with track conditions absolutely ideal for racing.

Americans Steve Francis and Steve Casebolt would share the front row with Casebolt getting the initial jump. Casebolt lead for the first two corners before running wide and handing Francis the lead.

The race settled into a pace with Francis pulling away from Casebolt, Jason Oldfield, Craig Vosbergen, Brad Blake and Jeremy Payne.

Ken McPherson would slow to a stop bringing out the first caution of the race after eighteen laps.

Jason Oldfield would slip from third to sixth at the restart by running wide with the battle between Payne, Blake and Vosbergen really starting to heat up.

Jeremy Payne and Brad Blake would make contact coming into the main straight with Blake falling through the field.

A second restart would be called for debris on the racetrack and Payne would be put back two positions at the restart for his part in the incident with Blake.

Francis would go on to win the final round of the Invasion Tour comfortably over his countrymen Steve Casebolt. Craig Vosbergen would be the first Western Australian driver to cross the line holding off the fast finishing Jeremy Payne who rebounded to finish in fourth place.

Jason Oldfield held on to fifth from Brad Blake, Matt Goodlad, Nat Muir, Michael Holmes and Jay Cardy rounding out the top ten.
Francis yet again was happy to win in Western Australia and go home at the series champion.

Plans are already well underway for the 2015 Invasion Tour with plans of extending the series to include a few more venues.
