Morgan Bagley Closes 2013 Season with $5,000 Triumph at Lone Star

by Ben Shelton
LONGVIEW, Texas (December 2) – Morgan Bagley ended his 2013 season with a bang on Saturday evening in his  #14m P&W Sales/Rocket By R.E. Consulting/Clements Super Late Model by claiming sweet redemption in the annual Lone Star Turkey Nationals at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas). The redemption came in the form of a $5,000 payday at the 3/8 mile oval, which marked his second win of the 2013 season.

In 2012 Morgan led a majority of the feature in the same event before a broken axle late in the going forced him to retire pit-side before the checkered flag.  As a result he returned to the scene of the crime for his final race of 2013 on Saturday afternoon hoping to score the redeeming win.  By the time the checkered flag dropped on the finale, it was mission accomplished.

Thirty-one Super Late Models entered the program, which was sanctioned by the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) Super Late Models. A 4th to 1st run in his heat race locked Morgan into the pole position for the 50 lap finale, where he was joined on the front row by Robbie Stuart. As the feature race went green it was Bagley, who took control of the lead, and it would be a position he never relinquished as he led all 50 laps to score the victory over Rob Litton with Shane Hebert, Robbie Stuart, and Allen Tippen rounding out the top five finishers.

"Tonight was just a great way to make up for last year's bad luck in this race, and it's great to end our year with a big win," a relieved Bagley noted in victory lane.  "After a year of staying on the road with WoO and going to a lot of new places, it was awesome to come home in front of so many friends, family, and sponsors to get this victory."

Full results from the event are available at www.SUPRRacing.com .

Team 14 now turns their attention to 2014, which will see Bagley embarking on a sophomore tour on the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour.  Before beginning action with the WoO series during Georgia/Florida Speedweeks the team will likely travel to Tucson and El Paso in January to compete in the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) early-season events.
