William Thomas Claims Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Title by Ben Shelton
PHENIX CITY, Alabama (October 15) - William Thomas added another accolade to his career achievements list on Saturday night as he claimed the inaugural Chevrolet Super Late Model Series championship in his #A19 Alexander's Industrial Services Super Late Model.
Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) hosted the final event of the 2013 season on Saturday evening with the $6,000-to-win, Dega 100. Twenty-four entries took part in the big event at the 1/3 mile oval, and via preliminary action Thomas locked into the 15th starting spot for the 100 lap finale. He would go on to advance eight positions to a 7th place finish during the course of the series' longest race of the year.
With his performance William claimed the series title with Tim Busha, Ronnie Johnson, Mathew Turner, and Brent Barrett rounding out the top five in the final standings.
"We didn't originally plan to run for this championship, but we started so well out of the gate that we had to give it a show," said Thomas. "Now here we are with the championship, and it really feels awesome. I have to thank my sponsors, family, crew, and fans for their constant support. This one is for them!"
