Steve Francis Takes Fourth in Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals

ASHLAND, KY (October 4) – Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series star Steve Francis of Ashland, KY picked up a fourth place finish on Saturday Night at the 10th Annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals. He is now 125-points behind Jimmy Owens in the chase for the 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship.

For the second week on a row Steve and the Clint Bowyer Racing Team earned the Optima Batteries Hard Charger of the Race Award. On September 21st Steve came from the 23rd starting spot to finish fifth in the 33rd Annual Jackson 100 at Brownstown (IN) Speedway. This was all after Steve suffered a painful cracked tailbone during a near-flip in his heat race.

At Knoxville, Steve would start in the 22nd starting position and advance to cross the finish line in the 4th in the $40,000 to win even, which he won a year ago. Steve and the Georgia Boot, Clements Racing Engines, Barry Wright #15 remains in second place in the LOLMDS points standings with three events remaining on the schedule.

This weekend Steve and the rest of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers head to the state of Georgia for two events. On Saturday Night, October 5th will be the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. On Sunday Night, October 6th the series ventures to Dixie’s sister track, Rome Speedway in Rome, GA for the Rome Showdown. Each event pays $10,000 to win.
