Mike Marlar is the Ultimate in North Georgia Triumph

by Ben Shelton
WINFIELD, Tennessee (August 8) - Mike Marlar parked his #5b Bryson Motorsports/Bloomquist/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in victory lane on Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia) after topping the Ultimate sanctioned event.

Mike Marlar opened the weekend with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series on Friday night with a trip to Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) for a $4,000-to-win affair. Twenty-nine entries entered the event at the 3/8 mile oval, and via preliminary action Marlar locked into the 12th starting spot for the finale. He would go on to advance to a 10th place finish in his #5b Bryson Motorsports entry.

Saturday evening took him to North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia), where he topped a field of 24 entries to bag his second win of the 2013 season. Via preliminary action Marlar earned the 3rd starting spot for the $4,000-to-win, 40 lap feature, and would quickly work his way into the 2nd spot as he began to stalk race leader, Randy Weaver. Marlar would pursue Weaver until lap 36, when he shot into the lead in lapped traffic. Mike would go on to score the victory, which came over Weaver, Chris Ferguson, Ivedent Lloyd Jr., and Casey Roberts.

"The car was just awesome all night, and lapped traffic played into my favor late in the race," noted Marlar. "It feels great to get back to victory lane again. Thanks to Norman (Bryson) and all of my great sponsors for their support!"

Mike and Bryson Motorsports will travel to Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) for the 31st edition of the Sunoco North/South 100. The $50,000-to-win event is once again being sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), and the Lucas Oil Production Studios cameras will be on hand to tape the event for a future broadcast.
