Prochnow scores Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model victory

by Bill Nelson
SPRING VALLEY, MN (June 15) - Mother Nature again tried to put a halt to the racing action at Deer Creek Speedway by dropping a early afternoon shower onto the speedway. The crew quickly worked the moisture into the speedway and got the show underway just a little after 6. 112 racers showed up to do battle on the fast and tacky speedway. A great group of Scouts joined in on the activities at the speedway on the night as all Scouts in uniform got into the speedway for free.

Bernie Adams powered outside of Noah Grinstead to take the early lead in the SixTwo Graphics WISSSOTA Street Stock feature on lap one. Karl Hewitt Jr. worked into second by the end of lap one, while an early three wide battle for fourth took place. Danny Richards, Troy Voth and Mike Blowers battled for the fourth spot until Richards took the spot on lap two. Blowers started to pressure Richards again on lap five as they moved past Grinstead for third and fourth. Up front Hewitt Jr., started to gain ground on Adams. With seven completed the top five started to close into each other on the speedway. On lap eight Blowers and Richards were side by side for third. Blowers took the spot and then quickly worked under Hewitt Jr. for the second spot. Lap eleven saw Blowers work past Adams to take over the lead of the race. Richards worked under Hewitt Jr. for the third spot on lap fourteen. Richards dove under Adams for the second spot coming to the checkers. Adams was onto the game as he cut back under Richards to retake the second spot as the checkers flew over the field. Shaun Mann and Karl Hewitt Jr won the heat races earlier in the night

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were on the track next for their feature action. Jesse Hernandez took the early lead with Jared Boumeester and Casey Trom racing for second. Hernandez slowed at the completion of lap one bringing out the caution. On the restart Boumeester took the lead with Jason Born close behind in second. Born took over the top spot as lap two completed with Trom sitting in third behind Boumeester. Boumeester slowed bringing out the caution on lap five. On the restart Born and Dustin Scott battled for the lead. Scott took over the top spot while Born and Trom raced for second. Scott looked strong up front and with eight down started to build a good lead. Born sat in second with Trom close behind in third. Mike Mehling and Beau Lammers raced for the fourth spot. Mehling took over fourth and on lap eight moved past Trom for third. Trom fought hard and on lap ten retook the third spot. The final caution flew on lap fourteen with Scott leading again. Born and Trom had a great battle for the second spot. With two to go Born and Trom continued to battle hard as Trom touched the wall on the back straight slowing dramatically and ending a great run. Scott took home the checkers with Born, Boumeester, Pfeifer Jr., and Lammers rounding out the top five. Scott, Pfeifer Jr. and Born won the heat races earlier.

It was the Cory Crapser show again in the Left Lane Transport USRA B-Modifieds on this night as he jumped out front at the start. Jacob Bleess moved into second on a restart on lap two with Tyler Creely in third. Alex Williamson put pressure on Creely quickly as they raced for third. Williamson took over third on lap four as another caution flew. On the restart Williamson and Bleess battled for the second spot as Cole Queensland moved under Ben Moudry for the fifth spot. Bleess held onto the second spot while Queensland now in fourth moved up to race with Williamson in third. With eleven completed Queensland moved under Williamson to take over the third spot as another caution flew. On the restart Crapser led while Queensland made a strong move from the outside of the second row and drove under Bleess for second. Bleess and Queensland battle for the next two laps for the second spot with Queensland holding a slight edge. On lap fifteen another caution saw Crapser leading with Queensland in second. Bleess, Williamson and Moudry in the top five. A final caution flew on the last lap as Creely caught the back stretch wall sliding back across the track and collecting Jerry Young who then got collected by Al Wagner. Young and Wagner both suffered heavy damage to the cars. Crapser led on the final restart and took home the win followed by Queensland, Bleess, Williamson and Moudry. Shaun Walski won the B-Feature while Crapser, Brandon Hare, Williamson and Bleess took home the heat race wins.

Brandon Duellman jumped out front at the drop of the green flag with Josh Bartel in second. Tommy Richards moved past Ryan Henderson on lap three for the third spot. Behind Richards, Kelly Anderson and Jeff Brauer were following him through the field and took over fourth and fifth. Bartel took over the top spot dropping Duellman back to second and on lap four Richards moved under Duellman for second. On lap six Richards looked under Bartel for the lead and completed the pass on lap seven with Anderson moving into second on lap eight. With nine down Brauer moved into the third spot. By lap twelve Anderson had gained on Richards and now started to look for a way past. Anderson took over the lead on lap thirteen. Brauer closed on Richards over the last few circuits but was unable to get alongside of him for second. At the finish it was Anderson with the win, Richards, Brauer, Bartel and Brian Fetting rounding out the top five. Richards and Anderson won the heat races.

Justin Sass, Nick Kramer and Dennis Hillson were three wide for the lead on lap one of the Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Model feature. Kramer took the lead until Mike Prochnow moved under him for the spot on lap two. Jordan Yaggy took over the second spot on lap three while Nick Herrick and Lance Matthees moved into third and fourth on lap four. With six down the caution flew over the speedway. Prochnow led on the restart with Yaggy in second. Herrick and Matthees were side by side for third. Neil Eckhart and Sass were racing for fifth until Herrick slipped and Eckhart had to get out of the gas to avoid him. With eight down Matthees pressured Yaggy for the second spot. Three laps later Matthees moved into the second spot. With seventeen complete Yaggy pulled to the infield with a flat moving Sass up to the third spot with Eckhart and Kyle Jumbeck racing for fourth and fifth. Jumbeck held onto the position and on the last lap Joe Ludemann worked past Eckhart for the fifth spot. At the finish it was Prochnow with the win, Matthees, Sass, Jumbeck and Ludemann rounded out the top five. Heat races went to Herrick and Yaggy.

The final race of the night was the NAPA AutoCare USRA Modified feature. Lucas Schott took the lead out of turn two but Kevin Stoa slid up in front of him in turn four to take the lead only to have Schott turn under him and beat him to the line to lead lap one as the caution flew. On the restart Schott led with Dan Bohr moving into second. Stoa and Nate Wasmund raced for third. Wasmund took third on lap three with Brandon Davis moving into fourth on lap five. A caution on lap five saw Schott leading whle Davis got a good run and jumped into second out of turn two. A big pack of cars raced for fifth as everyone wanted to get up front. With eight down Davis started working low on Schott up front. They raced side by side at the line on lap nine and Davis took the lead on lap ten. Another caution flew on lap ten and on the restart Davis led with Schott in second. Kelly Shryock moved into the fourth spot while Bohr and Mike Sorensen raced for fifth.
