Kent Robinson Doubles Up Weekend Wins by Ben Shelton
BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (05/29/13) – Prior to the Memorial Day weekend Kent Robinson was winless on the year, but by the time that the final checkered flag dropped on the four day stretch he had recorded two wins in two different divisions.
Kent powered the #85 Jones Oil Open Wheel Modified to his first feature win of the 2013 season on Friday night at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana)! Twenty-five competitors entered the event, and Robinson started his night by winning the first heat race to earn the pole position for the feature event with Dennis Boknecht starting alongside him. Robinson quickly worked his way to the lead, and never looked back on his way to the victory, which came over John Demoss, Kenny Carmichael Jr., Brad Barrow, and Jason Thomas. Less than 24 hours after getting his first win of the season, Kent returned to the cockpit of his #7r JB's Salvage/Keyser Manufacturing/Rocket by Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) and came away with another win! Kent started his night by finishing fourth in his heat race before mounting a charge from the eighth starting spot to the lead and the win in the feature. He was followed across the finish line by Cody Mahoney, Brandon Green, Tim Prince, and Robby Hensley. Full results from the racing program are available at

Sunday evening took the team to the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the Johnny Appleseed Classic, which was sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS). Forty Super Late Models registered for action at the 1/2 mile oval, and a fourth place finish in his heat race positioned Robinson starting thirteenth on the grid for the feature. He went on to advance eight spots to finish fifth behind race winner, Jeff Babcock, Jacob Hawkins, Jonathan Davenport, and Jeep Van Wormer. Full results from the program are available at

Kent Robinson concluded an ultra-busy Memorial Day weekend by returning to the driver's seat of the Jones Oil #85 Open Wheel Modified at Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) on Monday evening. Twenty-three entries converged on the state-of-the-art facility, and a fourth to first run in his heat race positioned Robinson starting second in the main event alongside Pete Holt. Robinson battled for the lead for much of the event before settling into a third place finish behind race winner, Devin Gilpin, and Holt. Overall it was a great weekend of racing for the team. "We had a great weekend for sure, and it's awesome to finally get into victory lane," commented Robinson. "However, more importantly our team would like to send our thoughts and prayers out to the Josh Burton family. Our hearts go out to them for their loss."
This weekend, May 31st-June 1st, Kent will again be in action in two different divisions. On Friday night he will again pilot the #85 Jones Oil Open Wheel Modified at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) before returning to the driver's seat of his Super Late Model on Saturday night with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) in a $10,000-to-win event.
