Clay Fisher Snares Biggest Career Win with Columbus Triumph

by Ben Shelton
DEWITT, Arkansas (05/29/13) - Clay Fisher had a busy Memorial Day weekend in his #99 Moon's Towing & Recovery/Mastersbilt/Kuntz & Co. Racing Engine Super Late Model, and along the way he recorded the biggest win of his young career.

On Saturday evening the team traveled to "The Baddest Bullring in the South" Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for a $2,500-to-win program that was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS).  Twenty entries were on hand, and after winning his qualifier he started tenth on the grid for the 50 lap finale.  As the race went green he began working his way forward through the field, and by the time the white flag flew he was in the second spot.  It appeared that he would be on his way to a runner-up finish, but the leader, Chris Wall, encountered trouble with a lapped car, which allowed Fisher to slip past to take the lead and the win, which was the first of the year and the biggest of his career!  Wall, Chad Thrash, Eric Cooley, and Neil Baggett rounded out the top five finishers.

"The bad luck that we've had over the past few years has been pretty rough, but my crew and sponsors have stood behind me, so this win tonight is for them," commented an elated Fisher in victory lane. Full results are available at www.StateSeries.com .

The team concluded the weekend on Sunday evening at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) with a Weekly Racing Series Event at the 3/8 mile oval.  Twenty-seven Super Late Models entered the program, and Clay raced to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Eric Cooley, Rick Rickman, and Mike Boland. Full results from the program are available at www.MagnoliaDirt.com .

This Saturday, June 1st Clay will travel to Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas) for a $2,000-to-win, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model event.  Fisher is currently ninth in the latest series' standings.  For more information on the event please visit www.COMPDirt.com .
