Jimmy Mars Competes in Bad Boy 98; Looks Ahead to Wheatland and Granite City MENOMONIE, WI (May 22) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team trekked south to the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on May 17-18 for the 2nd Annual 'Bad Boy 98.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the two-day extravaganza at BMS, which drew forty entrants to vie for the hefty $20,000 payday. In preliminary action on Friday night, Jimmy qualified twelfth fastest in Group B during time trials and later moved up to second in his heat race to finish behind only prelim winner Wendell Wallace.
When the dirt-slinging action really heated up on Saturday evening at Batesville, Jimmy started the 98-lap main event from the outside of the fourth row. Unfortunately, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace was an early retiree in the 'Bad Boy 98' with a flat tire and body damage and wound up twenty-second in the final rundown. Next up for the Mars Racing team will be a huge extended weekend of racing from May 23-26 in the states of Missouri and Illinois. The 21st Annual Lucas Oil ‘Show-Me 100’ – Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Things will start at Wheatland with a complete $5,000 to win Lucas Oil MLRA show on Thursday, while preliminary action for the ‘Show-Me 100’ will take place on Friday. Saturday’s 100-lapper, which will be co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and MLRA, boasts a hefty $30,000 payday and will be taped to air on CBS, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, SPEED, and MAVTV for a total of eight air dates in 2013.
Following the long three days at Wheatland, the Memorial Day weekend for the #28 team will wrap up on Sunday at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. The annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50’ will be held at the St. Louis area venue on Sunday evening and a $10,000 top prize will be on the line in the UMP DIRTcar Series program. A complete show featuring qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap A-Main is in store for fans and competitors alike on Sunday. Jimmy finished a strong second in last year’s version of the ‘Budweiser 50.’ Much more information concerning the action-packed weekend at Wheatland and Granite City can be found by clicking on
