R.J. Conley Cruises to Runner-Up in Southern 100; Rod Conley Comes Home Sixth WHEELERSBURG, OH (May 8) - The Conley Motorsports, Inc. team was out in full force on May 3-4 at the nearby Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio, as Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley competed in the 18th Annual 'Southern 100.' On Friday night, a $4,000 top prize was on the line in an unsanctioned tune-up race. R.J. ran fourth in heat race action, but a wrong tire selection caused him to finish twelfth in the 40-lapper. Rod finished fifth in his heat race and won his B-Main, but was unfortunately forced to scratch from the feature event after suffering a broken transmission pulling onto the track. Delmas also missed out on the A-Main after experiencing an untimely flat tire while running in a transfer spot in his heat race.
At SOS on Saturday evening, the 'Southern 100' Championship night paid $12,000 to the winner. R.J. advanced up to fourth in his heat race and later charged to second in the 60-lap feature to finish only behind winner Doug Drown. "Hot Rod" grabbed the sixth and final transfer spot through his heat race before blasting up to sixth in the A-Main. Delmas, the Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, also transferred into the main event through his heat race and later retired from the feature in the eighteenth position. The Conley’s are set for another busy racing weekend on May 10-11, as the trio of drivers will tackle three different ovals in Ohio and Kentucky. Delmas and R.J. are both slated to invade the Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio on Friday night, while they will compete in the 2013 season opener at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening. Rod is scheduled to skip those races in his home state of Ohio and will instead travel south to the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday for the $3,000 to win ‘Coal Field 50.’ Additional information on the weekend can be viewed by pointing your web browser to
