Jimmy Mars Off to Consistent Start to 2013 Season; Eyes Trip to Florida

MENOMONIE, WI (January 24) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model team, having recently returned from their season-opening events in Arizona, are hard at work prepping their equipment for another busy stretch of racing in a warm weather state.  Plans call for Jimmy to race next at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida and Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida from February 15-23.  In all and weather pending, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace will steer his #28 MB Customs mount in nine high-profile showdowns in the Sunshine State, three at Ocala and six at VSP.  You can view the upcoming race schedule by clicking on www.JimmyMarsRacing.com.

The Mars Racing team already has six races under their belt in 2013, as they recently completed the ‘Winter Extreme’ mini-series at the Tucson International Raceway in Tucson, Arizona, which was held from January 12-20.  Jimmy scored a trio of podium finishes in the first three shows at TIR, while he racked up two more Top Tens in the final three programs at the 3/8-mile complex.  The only time Jimmy finished outside of the top ten was in the $10,000 to win finale on Sunday, January 20, as he suffered terminal front end damage late in the race after hovering around the top five throughout.

Jimmy matched his best finish of second twice while out in Tucson, as he was a strong runner-up on January 13 and 16.  The popular driver known as the “Iceman” finished behind only new MB Customs wheelman Chris Simpson on Sunday, January 13, while he crossed underneath the checkers behind only winner Will Vaught on Wednesday, January 16 after leading the majority of the 30-lapper.  You can view a detailed race-by-race account of Jimmy’s efforts out west by logging onto www.JimmyMarsRacing.com.

“I feel good about where our program is at right now leaving Arizona and getting ready for Florida,” commented Mars earlier this week.  “We were pretty quick the first three nights out at Tucson, but then the last three nights we just didn’t get the luck we needed.  I drew bad a couple of nights and had to start near the back of the feature.  Then in the finale last Sunday, we had a nice run going until the nosepiece got damaged in a little incident late in the race.  Now, it’s time to get back to business and keep building cars for our clients and we’ll have our stuff back together in time to head south to Ocala and Volusia.”
