Rick Eckert Runner-Up in World Finals Opener; Finishes Second in WOOLMS PointsYORK, PA (November 7) - Rick Eckert and his #24 team closed out the 2012 version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series schedule from November 1-3 at the immaculate Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina. The 'PEAK Motor Oil World of Outlaws World Finals' drew a strong 72 car field to the 4/10-mile Charlotte-area speedplant over the weekend. During the two-round qualifying session on Thursday night, Rick posted the third quickest lap for Friday's show and the fourth fastest circuit for Saturday's program.
When things heated up on Friday evening at Charlotte, Rick won his heat race in preliminary action and later drew the third starting spot prior to the $10,000 to win feature event. The York, Pennsylvania star then led the 50-lapper on two different occasions for a total of fourteen circuits before winding up a strong runner-up behind only victor Jimmy Owens. In the $10,000 to win event on Saturday in front of the SPEED Channel cameras, Rick once again won his heat race prior to rolling off from the pole position in the 50-lap A-Main. "Scrub," who finished second in the final WOOLMS point battle, ran amongst the leaders throughout the distance before retiring with problems on lap 43, which dropped him to a disappointing twenty-first place effort. While his 2012 Dirt Late Model season is now complete, Rick plans to participate in the 2nd Annual ‘Fall Jamboree’ on November 10-11 at the Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run, Pennsylvania. Rick will compete in the K&N National SpeedSTR Event at Path Valley this weekend and a pair of $1,500 top prizes will be on the line. Rick won both SpeedSTR Twin 20 races at Path Valley back on March 17. Additional information can be obtained by clicking on
