Bobby Labonte Racing Captures 25th Top-10 Finish of Season

Bobby Labonte Racing
Trinity, N.C. (October 10, 2012) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) and driver Earl Pearson Jr. earned a 13th and 10th-place finish during their two races in Georgia on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Tour this past weekend. The top-10 result during Sunday's action at Rome Speedway earned the team their 25th top-10 finish of the season.

The first night of competition on Saturday took the team to Woodstock, Ga. for the 23rd annual Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout at Dixie Speedway.Pearson Jr. started the night with a fast qualifying lap. They then finished third in their respective heat and felt good heading into the feature. However, Pearson Jr. and the BLR team couldn't find the speed they needed to challenge for the win. They started the 50-lap feature 10th and ended in the 13th position.

"We were happy with the car in qualifying, hot laps and our heat race," said Pearson Jr. "But, when it came time for the feature, and things changed, our Longhorn Chassis didn't perform as well as needed. We just couldn't get the car to do what we wanted and it was a disappointing finish."

Sunday, the team pulled into Rome Speedway looking to improve upon their 13th-place finish at Dixie Speedway. Again, the No. 44 crew and Pearson Jr. had the car set up perfectly for qualifying and hot laps. They then earned a fourth-place finish in their heat. The "Rome Rumble", a 50-lap feature, gave fans an exciting race, which saw a four-way battle for the top spot. The No. 44 Lucas Oil Longhorn was fast, but just not quick enough to compete for the win. Pearson Jr. finished the night 10th, his 25th top-10 result in 2012.

"Our guys, Anthony and Matt worked hard this weekend," said Pearson Jr. after the weekend. 'We were excited both nights about how the car raced early in the night. However, during both feature races this weekend we missed something. The car has been a lot better lately, but it's just finding the right combination that works for qualifying, hot laps, heat races and most importantly the feature."

BLR takes this weekend off before heading to Portsmouth, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will conclude its season at Portsmouth Race Park on October 19th and 20th. On Friday, October 19th Pearson Jr. and team will compete in heat races and on Saturday night the Lucas Oil season will conclude with 100-Lap, $50,000-to-win feature.
