Lucas Oil Late Models close out season in Georgia... The 2012 season for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has produced another exciting year of racing as the season winds down to the final events of the year in October. The series will again visit two tracks that have been on the schedule every year since the series was formed in 2005. This weekend's events will take place on Saturday Night, October 6th for the "Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout" in Woodstock, GA and Sunday Night, October 7th for the "Rome Rumble" at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is looking to wrap-up his second straight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship this weekend in the state of GA. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN who leads the series with eleven victories will join Owens in action along with 2-time series champion and 6-time Dixie Shootout winner, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN
6th Annual Gumbo Nationals this weekend… It’s time to set the gumbo on fire as the 6th Annual Gumbo Nationals will come to life at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on October 4-6, 2012. Anticipation is at an all-time high for this event as this weekend the track could arguably see one of the most talented, Super Late Model fields ever assembled at the 1/4 mile oval. This year's edition of the event will feature the richest Super Late Model payout ever at the facility, with a total purse boasting over $33,000 for the Super Late Model division alone with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioning the event for the first time ever. Super Late Model pilots will compete in a $7,500-to-win/$700-to-start, 75 lap event. In addition to the added money in the Super Late Model feature, a last chance qualifier for the division will be held, which will give drivers a chance to win additional money.
Championships determined at Eldora... Late Models and Modifieds will be in competition (October 5 & 6) at Eldora Speedway and the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) National Championships will see four 2012 point chases coming to a close. After the checkered flag falls on 40-laps of Late Model racing Saturday night, title holders for Eldora Speedway and the UMP National Standings will have been determined. Matt Miller leads the Late Model standings into the two-day Nationals Championship, with a slim six-point margin over Jeep VanWormer. Canadian Andrew Reaume looms in third, fourteen points out of the lead, and could possibly be the first ‘North of the Border’ champion at Eldora with a strong Nationals run. The pursuit for the UMP DIRTcar National title showcases two-car battle with Illinois drivers Brian Shirley and Kevin Weaver are waging a dogfight for the Championship.
Tennessee Tripleheader for Limited Late Models… A big tripleheader of racing is set to take place this weekend in east Tennessee as limited late model and modified street drivers will have three chances at $2,000 to win. The 2nd annual Fall Brawl takes place October 5-7 at three different venues with big money on the line for Limited Late Models. Action kicks off Friday night, October 5 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee. In addition to the limited late models and modified streets, the mini stock/front wheel drive division will also be in action. Racing moves to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee on Saturday, October 6 and concludes Sunday, October 7 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee.
Rescheduled Thunder Fest Late Model Shootout Is Here… With inclement weather forcing postponement of this event last weekend, Thunderbird Speedway and late model drivers from throughout the area will try once again this coming weekend for the second annual “Thunder Fest Late Model Shootout” presented by Mark Martin Auto Group of Batesville, Arkansas featuring the Arkansas based Comp Cams Super Dirt Series and the Missouri based MARS late model DIRTcar series. All taking place atop the famed Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 4-6. Thursday night, October 4th, will see the track will host an open practice session with a big pit party enabling fans to hang out with drivers who show up for the nights practice. Friday night it all kicks off between the two super late model dirt car series with the nights feature finale winner bringing home $3000. Championship Saturday night another complete show will be run and that night’s feature finale will pay $5000 to win.
Monster Mania To Close Out PPMS 2012 Action… The 2012 racing season will conclude this Saturday, October 6th as Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway present the Second Annual Monster Mania Extravaganza this Saturday, October 6th. The Super Late Model portion of Monster Mania will showcase drivers such as Alex Ferree, the 2012 PPMS divisional champion Michael Norris, Daryl Charlier and more in an exciting 20 lap feature event. Keith Barbara may also invade the "Monster Half Mile" to defend his title and you cannot count out veterans Steve Baker or Jim Stephans either.
Ponderosa 22nd Annual Fall Classic on October 6… Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will return to action for the 2012 season finale event at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Saturday October 6 as the track concludes its 40th season of racing competition with the 22nd Annual Fall Classic. Ponderosa Speedway’s 22nd Annual Fall Classic will take place on Saturday evening October 6 and will see the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models race 50 laps for $5,000 to win.
18th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic Rapidly Approaching… Less than one month remains until the 18th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi roars to life on Thursday-Saturday, October 11th-13th, 2012. On the heels of another successful Coors Light Fall Classic ever in 2011, the event is back for more in 2012. The 2012 edition of the event will be headlined by a $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start, 100 lap Super Late Model event, which boasts a total Super Late Model purse in excess of $55,000. In 2011 Jonathan Davenport topped a field of 61 Super Late Model competitors, representing 15 states, to claim his first-ever event title, and will likely be back to defend his title in the 100 lap event against a talented field of competitors, which will likely include other former event champions including Wendell Wallace, Jimbo McDuffie, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, Brian Birkhofer, and Ronny Lee Hollingsworth.
CLMA DIRTcar Series heads to Caney... The Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series Presented by Indy Screen Print will be running its last two races of the 2012 season on Friday, October 12th and Saturday, October 13th at the fast 1/4 mile Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, KS. Both nights of racing will be run "Topless". Fridays show will pay $1,200 to win and $225 to start and Saturdays show will pay $1,500 to win and $250 to start.
