Jimmy Mars Eyes Legendary 100 on Heels of Eldora HeartbreakMENOMONIE, WI (September 13) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team made their yearly pilgrimage to the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 7-8 for the 42nd edition of the 'World 100.' The most prestigious event in the Dirt Late Model industry drew 123 entrants to the hallowed 1/2-mile speedplant, all of whom were vying for the $50,000 top prize. Mother Nature took the win on Friday night, which condensed the entire show into a one-day program on Saturday.
During the one-round qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, Jimmy laid down the twelfth fastest lap and later posted a strong runner-up finish in his heat race behind only prelim winner Chad Simpson. After rolling off from the outside of the sixth row in the 100-lapper, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star moved all the way up to third in the late stages of the 'World 100' before running into mechanical issues (collapsed air cleaner). Jimmy was forced to retire on lap 92 and wound up a disappointing fifteenth in the final rundown. Full results from the "Big E" can be viewed online at

Following the heartbreak at Eldora, the Mars Racing team will look to rebound in the annual ‘Legendary 100’ at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on September 14-15. Jimmy will enter his familiar #28 Dirt Late Model to vie for the $5,000 winner’s check, but he will also enter an Open Wheel Modified to compete for a $3,000 payday. The team recently completed a new MB Customs modified that Jimmy will debut this weekend at CLS. Additional information on the ‘Legendary 100’ weekend can be obtained by clicking on
