Clanton, Kitchen, Hartman, Thomas among winners at TylerMiddlebourne, W.V. (September 1) - Tyler County Speedway was able to get the first two nights of the Black Diamond weekend in. But regretfully speedway officials were forced to postpone the 3rd annual Black Diamond 125 as the remnants of Hurricane Isaac finally arrived at the ‘Bullring’. With inclement weather forecasted throughout the remainder of the weekend and with the running of the nearby Hillbilly 100, a suitable Labor Day weekend make-up date is not an option. Tyler County management are currently working with World of Outlaw officials on a suitable date for rescheduling. Race fans are reminded to keep your armband and look for details regarding the rescheduled ‘Black Diamond 125’. Visit

The first night of the three day event started Thursday night as 34 United Rental Industrial Division EDGE Racing League crate Late Models lined up for the $2,000 pay check. John Wyer, Robert Cossell IV, Joel Prosser and Kyle Thomas scored the prelims and Derek Doll (in Bill Shaffer’s #55) grabbed the consi. On the second try at green Wyer snared the lead with Cossell, Thomas, Prosser and Daniel Hill quickly filling in the top five. The first yellow waved on lap four when Kris Southern and Brandon McGrady tangled . With Wyer still showing the way and Cossell chasing, Thomas began his ascent to the front by taking third on circuit five. Thomas then pressured Cossell and secured second on lap eight. Thomas then closed in on Wyer and turned up the heat. Just as the crossed flags were given Wyer pushed high in turn four allowing Thomas to scoot by. Two late cautions slowed the action but not Thomas. The driver of the W G Motor Sports / Dodd’s Sporting Goods #32 added his fourth win at the Bullring this season. Wyer, Hill, Sonny Conley and Cossell filled out the top five.
Also on the card Thursday night was the first of two nights for the Renegades of Dirt Modified series. After Bobby Kitchen in the 2 Brothers Motorsports / New Vision #13 tripped the clock the 2 Brothers Motorsports Fast Time the quickest with a time of 14.605. Jacob Hawkins, Bart Hartman and Tanner Wilson secured heat wins, Travis Dickson and Jared Hawkins snared consi checkers. On the second attempt, Hartman shot to the front and would never look back. Hartman would not be challenged but racing behind him was two and three wide for most of the distance. Hartman running the team car to Kitchen collected the $1,500 first prize as he was followed by Kyle Strickler, who got by Kitchen late. Travis Dickson and D J Cline completed the top five.
Making the first of their two night shows, the Bridgeport Equipment & Tool Hot Mods having a strong contingency as Travis Thomas, Jonathon Sheets, and Mike Conkle were heat victors, while Mike Martinn (in Kenny Isner’s #7) received the checkerboard for the consi. Thomas crossed in second, Tom Sigler (in Bill Sigmon’s #PT 109) , Curtis Watson and Stephen Dotson rounded out the top five.
The STARS Herrington Yoak Mod Lites were also making their first of two visits with the $1,000 to win 2nd annual Pat Herrick Memorial. But on the restart Josh Baldwin took over. Then on lap four Fornash retook the spot. On the restart of lap five, Fornash bobbled in turn two just enough to lty Mikey Hay shoot by, and that was all she wrote. With the time limit expiring at the half way mark, Hay crossed the line ahead of Jeff Teeter, Fornash, Baldwin and Alan Knepper.
The beginning of the evening saw the Mini Wedge A feature go to Kaitlyn Frazier. As she bested Georgie Tennett, Trey Watson, Brady Reed and P J Wright. In the B feature, Jamie Tate won first career ahead of Scott Perine, Jackson Jacobs, Hayden Jacobs and Alyssa Nething.
