Scenic takes Super Late Model checkers at Elksin Raceway

KERENS, WV (July 27) - After three weeks of rain, the Elkins Raceway finally some racing in the books. In the Jenkins Ford Super Late Models, Tim Senic and Bob Gordon snared the prelims. Unloading a brand new car that had not been raced before, Senic won his heat and shot from  the pole to the lead. By lap eight Senic had built a full straight away cushion. In his previous six outings, he had a second, three thirds, a fifth and a sixth place finish. He was looking to better that Friday night. A caution on lap eight bunched the field up again, but as the green flew so did Senic. It quickly became apparent that it was Senic’s race to lose. A late yellow on lap 17 still couldn’t slow the Elkins driver down. When the checkers flew, the Roy’s RV Super Center / Mach’s Excavating Services #S2 sat in victory lane for the first time since July 10, 2010. Bob Gordon, Shane Hitt, Jacob Hawkins and Butch McGill rounded out the top five.
