Josh McGuire dominates Sunoco Race Fuels Butterball Memorial at Richmond Raceway

RICHMOND, KY (July 21) - Josh McGuire of Grayson, KY brought home his second consecutive Paul Butterball Wooldridge Memorial Championship Saturday night at Richmond Raceway in dominating fashion.

Jeff Watson lead lap one of the 50 lap main event followed closely by Chris Combs, McGuire, Terry English, and Greg Johnson. Watson had pulled away to a comfortable lead when the first caution fell on lap 13 for Tim Tungate who had slowed in turn two. Back underway with McGuire now up to second followed by Johnson, Combs, Eddie Carrier, Jr., and Jason Jameson, McGuire began is charge for the top spot. The pair battled door-to-door for several laps before McGuire took the lead on lap 16. By lap 29 McGuire had put some distance between himself and second place Johnson as Jameson slipped passed Combs for fourth. Todd Coffman made his way into the top five on lap 33 with a pass on Combs. The top five went unchanged for the remaining laps as McGuire took home his second Butterball™ Memorial Championship. Greg Johnson finished second followed by Eddie Carrier, Jr., Jason Jameson, and Todd Coffman.

McGuire was the Red Buck Cigars overall top qualifier with a 15.247 seconds lap. Heat race wins went to McGuire, Combs, English, and Watson. Todd Coffman was the Hard Charger of the race advancing 15 positions.

Delane Browning of East Bernstadt, KY continued his hot streak winning the $1,200 Open Wheel Modified main event leading all 25 laps over Jimmy Crabtree.

John Cole returned to victory lane in the Sportsman division after a late race pass on Ricky Brandenburg, Jr.
