Johnny Pursley Finishes Second with Carolina Clash at I-77by Ben Shelton
CLOVER, SC (07/19/12) – On Saturday evening Johnny Pursley took his #09 Pursley Grading/Mastersbilt Super Late Model into battle in the Carolina Clash event at I-77 Speedway (Richburg, South Carolina) and came away with a runner-up finish.
The $4,000-to-win event marked the first time that the tour had ever sanctioned an event at I-77 Speedway, and with twenty-five cars entered for the program, Pursley began his night by qualifying third fastest to earn the third starting spot for the 40 lap feature event on the 4/10 mile oval. As the main event went green he would quickly work his way to the second spot, and early in the event would challenge Luke Roffers for the lead. Despite his best attempts, Pursley would have to settle for a second place finish behind Roffers.
Johnny continues to sit second in the latest Carolina Clash standings behind Roffers. Full results and the latest standings are available at

This weekend, July 20th-21st, Pursley plans to enter a pair of Schaeffer's Southern Nationals events in Georgia.
