NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 18CARTERSVILLE, GA – A busy Week 12 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season is in the books, and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA remains the point leader. There were several position changes among the Top 10 in the point standings as there were 11 races held.
Trosclair kept his weekly winning streak alive with a 40-point victory on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special. Trosclair is the only driver of the 363 drivers that have competed in the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season that has recorded a win in each of the first 12 weeks of competition.
On Friday, Trosclair turned in a 49-point second-place finish at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and received an additional 25 Bonus Points for his fourth consecutive week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Trosclair has now reached his quota of 100 Bonus Points.
Trosclair now holds a 41-point lead over Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, who finished second on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Custom Spraying GRT. Trosclair has 657 points and Barrett has 616 points.
Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 605 points after a third-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS had a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in the Henderson Waste & Recycling Trak-Star, and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 591 points.
Chase Washington of Houlka, MS grabbed his seventh NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, and now has 583 points and the fifth spot in the standings driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special. Ryan King of Seymour, TN is sixth with 569 points after a second-place finish on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.
Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 568 points in the Billy Riels Racing GRT, and Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS is eighth with 550 points in the Robinson Electric Rocket. Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS is ninth in the Robinson Electric GRT after a fourth-place run on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway.
Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS moved into the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points chase after an eighth-place effort on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Mackmer Construction GRT, and receiving 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of competition. Mackmer rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 497 points.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action, Duke Palasini of Leland, MS drove the Palasini Farms Special to his fifth win of the season on Saturday at Greenville Speedway. Palasini is currently 13th in the point standings, and will be a driver to watch in the coming weeks.
David Crabtree of Maryville, TN was the winner on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN driving the Smoky Mountain Brewery Special. Crabtree’s engine was protested, and his third win of the season is pending until a technical inspection of the engine is completed this week.
Larry Harrod of Plains, GA took his second win of the season on Friday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Harrod Logging Special, and Shawn Knuckles of Poplar Bluff, MO was a second-time winner on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO driving the Swafford’s Service GRT.
Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL drove the Skinner Racing Trak-Star to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL. Week 12 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season also saw four drivers visit victory lane for the first time this season.
Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS picked up his first career NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Rita Shannon Trak-Star. Brent Lewis of Harrisburg, IL drove the Lewis Racing Special to victory on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN.
Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS was the winner his first time out this season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Burchfield’s Body Shop Special. Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL grabbed his first win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the PW Performance GRT.
Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL picked up Week 12 victories from Ratcliff and Skinner and leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 16 wins.
Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second with 11 wins after Week 12 victories from Knuckles and Nowell. Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN are tied for the third spot with three wins apiece.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV holds down the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with two wins in the first 11 weeks of 2012 Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
