Frank gets first win of the season at Lernerville Speedway Sarver, PA (May 11, 2012) Carl Bowser has had a rough start to the 2012 season, fighting a new Eagle Chassis that just couldn’t get along with the Action Track. So Carl went back to the drawing board this week and broke out the J&J Chassis that he piloted to the 2011 Track Championship. The end result; his first feature win of 2012! Chub Frank, Dave Murdick and Mike Miller all followed suit with their first feature wins of the season in their respective divisions on Twin State Auto Racing Club Night. Friday night was also Breast Cancer Awareness night; our annual homage to mothers and grandmothers whom have battled breast cancer. The “Finest Race Fans in the World” generously donated $800 to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure; a record amount as nearly perfect weather conditions helped us fill the stands!
With the World of Outlaws Late Model Series off this weekend, Chub Frank rolled south down I-79 and paid a visit to one of this home tracks to score his first win of the season in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models. But while he led all 25 laps, it was by no means an easy win for the veteran driver from Bear Lake as Alex Ferree trailed him from green to checkered. The old “A Train” that won 15 races between 2007 and 2009, including an amazing nine feature wins in his breakout 2007 campaign, was back in full effect, but Ferree couldn’t find a line that allowed him to make a pass stick for the lead. In the end, Ferree could only chase Frank across the stripe to finish second. Frank’s first win of 2012 is the 15th of his career at Lernerville Speedway.
Behind Ferree in second was PPMS regular Jason Rider, the best finish in the early stages of his Lernerville career. Last week’s feature winner Jared Miley came from 10th to finish fifth ahead of “Mr. Clean” Chuck Sarver. Future Lernerville Hall of Famer Lynn Geisler finished sixth ahead of Doug Eck in seventh, Garrett Krummert in eight, Mike Johnson in ninth and John Garvin Jr. in tenth. Frank and Krummert scored Precise heat race victories. Boom Briggs did not start the feature after breaking in his heat race.
