Chub Frank Falls Just Short Of Driving New Car To Victory Lane In Lernerville’s Opener BEAR LAKE, PA – April 25, 2012 – Chub Frank fell just short of putting a brand-new car in Victory Lane last Friday night at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., but he declared his visit to the four-tenths-mile oval’s 2012 season opener a success nonetheless.
The 50-year-old veteran from Bear Lake, Pa., felt good after finishing second in the 25-lap DIRTcar UMP Late Model feature driving a fresh Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1*, which he debuted at Lernerville to shake in down in advance of this weekend’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series doubleheader at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Ala. (April 27) and Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway (April 28).
“The car was pretty good,” said Frank, whose finished 0.706 of a second behind winner Jared Miley. “We need to work on it, but we were able to drive it up through there to second (from the 10th starting spot). It’s just that by the time I got to second I was a straightaway back (of Miley) – and by the time I caught him, the race was over. I finished the race on his bumper, but there just wasn’t enough time to make a move.
“I like the potential of the car,” he added. “We went to Lernerville to try some things on it. Some things worked and some things didn’t, but that’s what we were there for. The plan is to run it in Alabama and Tennessee this weekend and see how it goes.”
Frank enters this weekend’s WoO LMS action ranked fifth in the national tour’s points standings, 118 points behind leader Darrell Lanigan.
