Gregg Satterlee Looks for Momentum after Georgia/Florida Speedweeks

Rochester Mills, PA (March 1, 2012) 'The Truth', Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA kicked off his 2012 season in Georgia and Florida while entering events at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA, Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL, and Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL. 2012 marked the first time Gregg started off his racing season during the GA/FL Speedweeks.

The trip started off with the two-day, $20,000 to win, World of Outlaws Late 'Winter Freeze' at Screven Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday, February 10 and 11. After qualifying 21st fastest of the 56 cars to take time, Satterlee finished fifth in his heat sending him to a B-Main event in which he held off Seaford, DE's Austin Hubbard and Thompson, PA's Dan Stone for the win and to transfer to the main event. Gregg would finish the 'Winter Freeze' in the 27th position after dropping out of the event just after the halfway point.

After a few days off for some sight-seeing and vacationing, the Gregg Satterlee Racing team were back in action on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday February 16, 17 and 18 at Bubba Raceway Park for the 'Bubba Army Winter Nationals' sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Satterlee got off to a quick start during the first of three events at the Ocala, FL 'D' shaped oval, timing in 11th fastest of the 51 entries setting up a third place finish in his heat race transferring him into the $8,000 to-win main event. Gregg battled his way to an impressive fifth place finish from his 11th starting position.

Satterlee wasn't as fortunate on Night Two of the 'Bubba Army Winter Nationals', after qualifying 12th out of 52 drivers entered, Gregg would finish sixth in his heat race putting him into a B-Main where he would finish 12th and fail to transfer to the night's $10,000 to-win feature event. On the third and final night at Bubba Raceway Park, Gregg set the eighth fastest time in qualifying and transferred on to the $12,000 to-win main event by virtue of a third place finish in his heat race. Satterlee went on to capture his second top ten finish of speedweeks, with a tenth place finish.

Gregg then ventured over to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL for the 42nd Annual 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Racing Products'. Satterlee started his week at the Volusia County oval on Monday, February 20, timing in third fastest in his group before finishing second in his heat race behind race winner Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA. Gregg's second place finish put him 11th to start the night's $7,000 to-win main event but Satterlee faded to a 20th place finish.

The rest of the week was uneventful for the Gregg Satterlee Racing team as despite excellent qualifying efforts, including being 11th quick during Thursday night's $10,000 to-win WoO event that had 78 cars entered, Gregg was unable to register another A-Main start. 'We had an up-and-down speedweeks,' Gregg said about his first speedweeks, 'It was definitely a great experience for me as a driver and us as a team. Racing against the huge car counts at all of the places we went to and some of the best fields we could see all year in Dirt Late Model racing, gave me and our race team some much needed experience.' Satterlee continued, 'We've raced against these guys in the past but never on a night in and night out basis like that, we had some solid qualifying efforts and had some strong finishes but overall, we'll take the lessons we learned while racing against those guys and we'll continue to grow and get better. Hopefully with the laps we were able to turn down south will help us when racing starts closer to home.'

Gregg's upcoming schedule has not been planned out yet but fans can keep an eye on all of Satterlee's whereabouts' on his website, www.greggsatterlee.com.
