Clint Bowyer Racing Adds Standout Jonathan Davenport in 2012
Welcome, N.C. (December 2, 2011) - Clint Bowyer Racing (CBR) has tabbed standout dirt late model driver Jonathan Davenport as driver of CBR’s No. 15 dirt late model team and will join teammate Jared Landers in the chase for the 2012 Lucas Oil Late Model Series Championship.
Davenport, 28, is a Blairsville, Georgia native. He is enjoying some great late season success, with 9 wins since September and 16 wins overall in 2011. Davenport, who has a relatively young career in dirt late models, began racing at age 7 and drove his first late model in 2002.
“I’m very excited to welcome Jonathan to our race team,” said owner Clint Bowyer. “I’ve kept my eye on Jonathan (Davenport) over the past few years and he has done a great job of running up front and winning races. He’s raced at many of the tracks that the Lucas Oil Series follows and I believe he and Jared (Landers) will compliment each other as teammates. I’m looking forward to having Jonathan at our shop and getting to work on 2012.”
“I’m very excited to join Clint Bowyer Racing in 2012,” said Jonathan Davenport. “I’ve worked very hard over the years to get this opportunity. It will be great to be a part of an organization that is committed as they are to working to be the best in the country and compete for championships. They have a lot of great people in place and the support of Clint (Bowyer) behind them is what really makes this such a good opportunity.”
Davenport will immediately join the CBR operation and begin work with his newly appointed crew chief, veteran wrench Tommy Grecco. Plans for the 2012 season include campaigning the entire Lucas Oil Late Model Series as well as Florida Speedweeks, Crown Jewel races and many other premier events.
With the addition of Davenport in 2012, CBR will also debut Barry Wright Race Cars powered by Roush-Yates engines.
Clint Bowyer Racing continues to strive to provide its sponsors and partners the best value in dirt late model racing. In the weeks to come CBR will announce its sponsor lineup for 2012.
