Boom Briggs Collects Two Wins in 2011, Preparing for Huge 2012 Season

Bear Lake, PA (November 22, 2011) Rick 'Boom' Briggs and the Boom Briggs Racing team had a very hectic 2011 season that was capped off with wins at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA and Little Valley Speedway in Little Valley, NY.

With the family business hitting its busy season in spring and early summer, Briggs spent a lot of time tending to obligations other than racing. In return, his results on the racetrack suffered. Boom posted just five top five finishes in 17 starts from February through mid-June before claiming the $2,500 Mid-Season Championship at Lernerville on June, 17. 'When the (World of) Outlaws were on a break through the month of June, Chub (Frank) and Derek (Chub's crew chief) were home a lot and helped get my program back on track,' Boom said from his home in Bear Lake, PA. 'The guys at Rocket Chassis also helped get us back in order before I started spending more time at the shop.'

Boom's season seemed to have turned the corner after the win and into the later months of the season as Briggs posted 18 top ten finishes, including a $3,000 win at Little Valley Speedway, in his final 25 starts to end the season. 'Things certainly picked up for us in the second half of the season,' Boom stated, 'when we started spending more time in the shop everything started to work a little better with both my program and Chub's. We got off to a slow start so our numbers aren't as good as they could have been but we all saw an improvement with Chub. We became, rededicated after business a slowed down and our results improved. I have to thank Horton Equipment and Sorbera Chiropractic and the rest of our sponsors for sticking with us throughout our struggles at the beginning of the season and help get us back on course,' Briggs continued, 'Horton and Sorbera helped out a ton getting us out of our rut.'

'The next few years are very important for me,' Briggs passionately said, 'I'm not getting any younger and if I want to do certain things with my driving career, it's going to have to be within the next couple of years. So we're looking to add an employee here for at least the off-season to get things rolling.' Boom explained, 'Jeff Farrell and Corry Rubber Corporation are coming on board for the 2012 season with expectations of an improved program. It's a goal of anyone that races to be able to travel and race with a national touring series, we are still in need of sponsorship for next season but things are moving forward. I can't go as far as to say yes, we will definitely be following the World of Outlaws in 2012 but I can say that we will be starting the season in February at Screven (Motor Speedway) in Georgia and Volusia (Speedway Park) in Florida with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.'

'We hope that after Volusia (UNOH Florida DIRTcar Nationals), we'll be in a position to where we can stick with the tour,' Briggs said. 'I know I say that every year but come February, our mindset is going to be different when we get down there. The way we turned our program around this past season and with the extra help we're hoping to get for next season; 2012 could be the best time for us to get out and race with the Outlaws. We'll see how things shake out in the coming weeks, either way we're excited to go racing next season.'
