Screven Motor Speedway Geared Up for 12th Annual Georgia Outlaw State Championship

Newington, Georgia – The Screven Motor Speedway is set to host the National Late Model Series and the $7000 to win wild and wooly Renegade 4 Battle Royale on Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th for the 12th Annual Georgia Outlaw State Championship. The high-banked Georgia red-clay 3/8ths of a mile oval is set for a full weekend of racing. Along with the headlining events Screven will also feature racing in 7 other divisions during the 2-day event including: Screven Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Hobby, Street Stock, Modified Mini, Mini Stock and Road Warriors. All of those divisions will be vying for a $1000 winner’s purse and $75 to start.

The event could prove to be a pivotal event in the NLMS “Headman Hustle” Championship chase. The Georgia Outlaw State Championship is the next to last event of the season for the National Late Model Series and the title chase could come down to the final events. Mark Whitener, vaulted back atop the point standings after taking the win at Waycross Motor Speedway last weekend, will look to open up some breathing room on his pursuers. However young guns Brandon Dewitt and Austin Kilpatrick are only 10 and 11 points back respectively coming in to Screven event. Those young drivers will be looking for a way to gain the advantage on each other and Whitener.

Also taking center stage will be Screven Motor Speedway’s Renegade 4 division as they compete for a $7000 winner’s check in the Renegade 4 Battle Royale. The Renegade 4s will practice on Friday and then qualify and battle it out in a 100-lap feature on Saturday night. 42 cars will start the feature and there will be a mid-race on-track fuel stop. Last year Tony Laporta of Daytona Beach, Florida bested the 65 other entries on hand to take the top prize. Renegades will qualify 2 laps on Saturday. Renegades must be entered and registered by no later the 1:45 PM on Saturday to participate.

As fans of Screven Motor Speedway have come to expect SMS owner / promoter James “Redd” Griffin will once again offer many other entertainment enticements as well as a full menu of restaurant-style food to suit every palate. Fans are invited to peruse the entire campus of the Screven Motor Speedway that now includes a total of 4 other motorsports venues all of which will be racing during the Georgia Outlaw State Championship. The Savannah River Dragway is the state-of-the-art 1/8th mile paved drag strip; Screven also has a concrete Concessions Kart Track that fans can race on. The Concessions Track utilizes micro-sprint cars. The 2 newest additions are the Gamecock Speedway and the Gee Chee Creek Mudd Drags. Gamecock Speedway is a brand new high-banked dirt kart track. The Gee Chee Creek Mudd Drag is the 1/8th mile Georgia Gumbo mud drag strip. Patrons can attend all these venues for the same low ticket price. Screven plans to have all these venues except the Savannah River Dragway in action during the Winter Freeze scheduled for February 9-11, 2012.

The Gamecock Speedway kart track will be hosting a full program featuring 7 divisions that will practice, qualify and heat race on Friday night with consis and features on Saturday. The Savannah River Dragway will be in action for the Marky B Memorial. The Gee Chee Creek Mudd Drag will host the “Deer Hunters Special” on Saturday for all 4x4s, 2 wheelers and ATVs. And of course “Li’l Screven” Concession Track will be open for fan racing and family fun along with a full menu at the much-touted Screven Concession Stand.

Friday the gates will open at 3 PM with driver registration from 4 to 7 PM with racing set to begin at 8 PM.
