NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS WELCOMES NEW ENTRANTS FOR WHYNOT COCA-COLA ZERO 75 ON NOV. 19CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour will add two starting spots to the $5,000-to-win 6th Annual Coca-Cola Zero 75 on November 19 at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. This move is to encourage new entrants and give them two opportunities to make the 26-car starting field.
The event was originally scheduled for September 3, but was postponed by Tropical Storm Lee. The preliminary events for the Coca-Cola Zero 75 were held on September 2 with qualifying and heats races that filled the first 16 starting spots with the top four finishers in each of the four heat races.
Drivers that finished fifth on back in each heat race have earned starting spots for one of two 20-lap B-Main races that were scheduled for September 3, but postponed until November 19. New entrants that were not in attendance on September 2 can still enter the event on November 19 and start on the tail of a B-Main race.
The top three finishers in the 20-lap B-Mains will transfer to the big show to fill in the 17th through 22nd starting spots. The 23rd and 24th starting spots for the Coca-Cola Zero 75 are NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Provisional spots reserved for the top two drivers in the Top 15 of the point standings that fail to transfer to the main event through heat race and B-Main competition.
To encourage new entrants, the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has added the 16-lap Buddy’s Home Furnishings Dash to the November 19 preliminary events for competitors that fail to transfer into the 17th through 24th starting positions for the main event.
All B-Main drivers will now have the possibility of two opportunities and 36 laps to transfer into the 26-car starting field of the $5,000-to-win 6th Annual Coca-Cola 100.
The top two finishers in the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Dash will transfer to the 25th and 26th starting spots for the Coca-Cola Zero 75. Drivers eligible for the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Dash will be the fourth through 12th-place drivers in the two 20-lap B-Main races which will make for an 18-car field in the Dash.
“For six years, the Coca-Cola Zero 75 at Whynot Motorsports Park has become one of the premiere events on the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour, and we wanted give drivers that couldn’t make it there on September 2 an opportunity to be a part of this show,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “We want to thank Buddy’s Home Furnishings for giving new drivers an opportunity to have 36 laps in two different races to make the starting field for the Coca-Cola Zero 75.”
Chris Cantrell of Chester, SC will start on the pole for the $5,000-to-win 6th Annual Coca-Cola Zero 75 after setting fast time among the 52 entrants and winning the first 15-lap heat race on September 2. The defending race champion and second heat race winner Larry Harrod of Plains, GA will start on the outside of the front row.
Third and fourth heat races winners from September 2, Rodney Wing of Meridian, MS and NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader Dan Breuer of Troutman, NC, will start on the second row for the 6th Annual Coca-Cola Zero 75 at Whynot Motorsports Park on November 19.
