Billy Moyer Jr. Sweeps Lucas Oil MLRA Weekend; West Plains Next

by Ben Shelton
Batesville, Arkansas (10/11/11) – After a stretch of bad luck Billy Moyer Jr. powered his #21jr Henderson Motorsports/Car City/Imperial Motors/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model to back-to-back wins over the weekend.

It's no secret that the past few months have been a rough stretch for Billy Moyer Jr., but on Thursday night he got things pointed in the right direction by winning the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model Series event at Heartland Raceway Park (Topeka, Kansas). Billy started the night by winning his heat race to earn the pole for the main event. At the drop of the green flag, Billy drove to the lead and once there never looked back as he led the full duration of the event to claim the $2,500 win! The victory came over John Anderson, Al Purkey, Jeremy Payne, and Jesse Stovall and was his sixth triumph of the season.

Billy made it two-for-two on Friday night at Heartland Raceway Park (Topeka, Kansas) by claiming his second career, Lucas Oil MLRA feature win in as many nights. For the second straight night, Billy would win his heat race to earn a front row starting spot for the $3,500-to-win event. He would lead the first thirteen laps before Jon Anderson used lap traffic to slip by for the lead. Anderson would lead until lap 37, when contact with a lapped car forced him pitside, allowed Moyer Jr. to reinherit the lead. Once out front Billy would never look back on his way to the win, which his seventh win of the season! He was followed across the line by Terry Phillips, Al Purkey, Tony Jackson Jr., and Joe Kosiski.

After a good first two nights of the weekend Billy was looking to make it three-for-three on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) in the 5th Annual Midsouth Dirt Track Championship, but it would prove to be a rough night. Thirty-five Super Late Models entered the $2,000-to-win event, and after difficulties in time trials on a slimy track, Billy would start deep in his heat. He would fail to make up much ground in the heat and decided to scratch from the remainder of the event to save his equipment.

This weekend, October 14th-15th, Jr. Motorsports will travel to West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, MO) for the 22nd Annual Fall Nationals, which will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model Series. On Friday night a $2,000-to-win event will be held, and on Saturday night a $3,000-to-win program will be contested.

Billy has brand new shirts available that can be viewed and purchased via his website at www.BillyMoyerJr.com or by visiting the team hauler at one of the upcoming weekend's events.
