Scott James Heads to Eldora Speedway Following Knoxville Late Model Nationals

BRIGHT, Ind. (October 6) - The Riggs Motorsports team and driver Scott James ventured west to the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa from September 29-October 1 for the 8th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.'  The crown jewel extravaganza kicked off with a pair of $7,000 to win prelims at the 1/2-mile facility.  On Thursday night, Scott timed in thirteenth fastest during qualifying, ran third in his heat race, and later climbed three spots during the 25-lap main event to finish in the sixth position.  The Bright, Indiana native unfortunately failed to transfer into Friday's $7,000 to win semifeature after finishing fifth in his loaded heat race and sixth in the B-Main.

By virtue of his strong point total on Thursday, Scott earned the rights to the ninth starting spot in the $40,000 to win 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' on Saturday evening.  The driver known as the "Silver Shark" ran strong early in the 100-lapper, but was unfortunately involved in a tangle with Jared Landers on the backstretch on lap 31.  Shortly after the incident, Scott retired from the race for good and settled for a twenty-eighth place performance.

Next up for the #81 team will be a trip to the hallowed grounds of the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on October 7-8 for the annual running of the ‘UMP Nationals.’  Qualifying will take place at the “Big E” on Friday night, while the heat races, consolation events, and the $5,000 to win, 40-lap feature event are all scheduled for Saturday evening.

Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team would like to thank the following group of sponsors for their continued support:  Clearwave Communications, Murphy Motorsports, JFR Graphics, Rocket Chassis, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, A-1 Technologies, Bert Transmission, Beyea Headers, Braswell Carburetion, Dan Olson Racing Products, Delph Communications, Dyer’s Top Rods, Goodridge, GW Performance, Hoosier Racing Tires, Integra Shocks, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Jones Racing Products, Performance Bodies, Peterson Fluid Systems, R2C Performance, Sweet Mfg., VP Race Fuels, Weld Wheels, Wiles Driveshafts, Wilwood Engineering.
