Miller Crowned Tennessee Super Series Champion, Finishes Fourth in Season Finaleby Josh Plant
Lynchburg, TN (10/4/11) – Daniel Miller and The D&D Motorsports Team clinched the Tennessee Super Series (TSS) points championship this past Saturday October 1 at Duck River Speedways TSS season finale, bringing home a fourth place finish in the event.
Going into the event Miller held a 58 point lead over his competitors. In order to clinch the title, Miller had to attempt to qualify and run a heat race. Miller would qualify fourth amongst the 36 car field and would lock his position into the 40 lap main event. Eliminating a heat race for the night and knowing he had the points championship in the bag, Miller and team put full focus on winning the $4000 up for grabs.
Miller would start fourth on the grid beside David Gentry and behind the front row starters of Terry English and Chuck Proctor. When the green flag fell, Miller hunkered down to avoid any chaos on the tight quarters of Duck River Speedway. Miller stayed on the high side, as the rest of the field stayed on the bottom. The first of several cautions fell just on lap two, Miller remained in fourth.
On the restart, Miller continued up top as no one else would venture up in no man’s land. Two more cautions would fall before lap 5 and Miller held the fourth spot. As the field finally got a long green flag run after the lap five restart, Miller was able to show his muscle, as he continued working the high side of the track, Miller quickly grabbed the third spot and few more laps would click off before the next caution of the event fell on lap 15 and Todd Morrow slipped by Miller for third.
Miller once again restarted fourth, still riding the rim of DRS, Miller found his groove getting the third spot back from Morrow and making no haste for second to get by Proctor. As Miller began rolling in the deep, he found himself in position to get by leader Terry English. Miller running the high line and English the bottom, Miller would show English his nose. English narrowly held off Miller. On the next circuit English adjusted his line to hold Miller off. Miller in return adjusted his line from the top to the bottom but that would slow Millers momentum, as Proctor slipped by Miller and Morrow would get by him also, shifting Miller back to fourth. As the remaining laps wound down, Miller held on to the fourth position and would finish right where he started for the night in fourth.
Daniel Miller had a successful Tennessee Super Series run, winning three of the eight scheduled events. Two TSS victories at Winchester Speedway on April 9th and May 28th and another at Thunderhill Raceway on June 4th. Miller led the full points standing throughout the whole series after the second event at Winchester Speedway on April 9th.
