NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES FINAL ROUND UPCARTERSVILLE, GA – The final week of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS and John Polasini of Leland, MS post their second straight West Region victories. The fourth through tenth spots in the final West Region point standings were also decided in Week 27 action.
Stokes drove the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics GRT to a $1,000 win in the I-20 Challenge Race on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Polasini took the win on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR driving the Polasini Racing Special.
The top three spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings were already set going into the final week of the season with Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS taking the Championship with Duke Palasini of Leland, MS finishing second and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL claiming the third position.
Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS was able to net one point on Saturday night with a sixth-place finish at Jackson Motor Speedway and take the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 769 points. Just five points ended up separating the fourth through eighth-place drivers in the West Region point standings.
Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS did not net any points on Saturday night with a seventh-place finish at Jackson Motor Speedway, but his 766 points was good enough to hang on to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings. Jordan edged out Landon Frith of Terry, MS and Randy Boyd of Marion, MS by one point.
Frith and Boyd each ended up with 765 points, but Frith won the tie-breaker for the sixth spot in the West Region standings with two wins on the season to one win for Boyd, who is credited with the seventh spot. Frith did not net any points on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway, but Boyd was able to net eight points with a second-place finish on Saturday night at JMS.
Chandler Petty of Austin, AR finished second on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway to net eight points and end the season in the eighth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 764 points. Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS finished ninth in the West Region standings with 752 points and Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS rounded out the Top 10 with 746 points.
GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion, as Stokes gave them their 57th win of the season. The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Championship is the fourth for the GRT Race Cars.
Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL finishes in the second spot in the 2011 standings with 52 victories.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV will finish in the third spot of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 18 wins and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth in the standings with one win.
Also participating in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge were TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
