Terry English Rides to Victory in TN Super Series Finale at Duck River Speedway, Miller Clinches TSS Title by Josh Plant
Wheel, TN (10/2/11)- Terry English of Benton, KY, piloted his Burr Motorsports Barry Wright race car to a $3000 victory Saturday night October 1st at Duck River Speedways TN Super Series (TSS) Finale, holding off a mid-race charge from, Todd Morrow, Chuck Proctor and Daniel Miller.
English would set the pace early by setting quick time, amongst the 36 super late models signed in for the mini series finale. Charlotte, TN’s Chuck Proctor would qualify second and the two would lead the charge for the 40 lap event.
The first few laps of the race was plagued with cautions, coming within the first five laps for cars getting together and spinning on three separate restarts. English never faltered once. During the mid-part of the race Daniel Miller was running the high side of the track, getting as high as second place and challenging English for the lead but English would close the door on Miller and Miller faded back to the fourth spot. English would be too much for Proctor and Morrow to get by and English went on to lead the entire 40 laps and get the $3000 victory, followed by Morrow, Proctor, Miller and Burroughs rounding out the top five.
Lynchburg, TN’s Daniel Miller entered the TN Super Series finale with a 58 point lead over Corey Posey of Petersburg, TN. The stage was set and all Miller had to do in order to be crowned the 2011 TSS champion was attempt to qualify and run a heat race. Miller would wrap up the TSS points title for the night by going out and qualifying fourth amongst the 36 car field. Terry English would jump from the fourth position in the standings to second after winning Saturdays TSS finale event. The remaining top-10 in points go as followed: Corey Posey, Mark Fields, Tony Morris, Scott Cook, Tanner English, David Seibers, David Brannon and Anthony Burroughs rounding out the top-10 final points contenders. Drivers had to compete in seven of the eight scheduled TSS events in order to be eligible for the points reward. Eight of the top-10 drivers competed in all eight scheduled events.
The TN Super Series had over 80 different drivers compete in the eight events from six different states; Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS won the first event on April 8th at Duck River Speedway, Daniel Miller of Lynchburg, TN won the next two events at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, TN) held on April 9th and May 28th. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC won on May 29th at Duck River Speedway. Daniel Miller would win a thriller at Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, TN) on June 4th. The series returned to Thunderhill on August 27th and Ray McElhiney would take the win. On September 3rd Labor Day weekend, Brandon Kinser of Allen, KY would win at Winchester Speedway. The finale was set for September 4th at Duck River Speedway but rain would win and the finale was set for October 1st were Terry English would win the finale.
