Miller Captures a Seventh Place Finish at Thunderhill’s Topless Brawl, TN Super Series Finale Next by Josh Plant
Lynchburg, TN (9/28/2011) - Daniel Miller and the D&D Motorsports crew saw action this weekend at Thunderhill Raceways (Summertown, TN) Topless Brawl $4000 To-Win 40 lap event, along with 26 other elite super late model drivers. Miller would race his Paul Miller Auto Service, Frank Miller Used Cars, Kuntz Powered, GRT Chassis to a top-10 finish in the event.
In qualifying Miller went out and set the clock with a 12.222 second lap and would qualify in the 15th position. Miller would start in the fourth spot in heat race number one.
In the heat, Miller started in the fourth spot, when the green fell Miller quickly jumped into the third spot, racing to gain position. On lap three Millers quick reaction to what was unfolding in front of him, steered the GRT chassis away from what could have been a disastrous night for the team, as heat race leader #98 of Eric Hickerson got loose in turn four and turned in front of the fast approaching field. Caution would wave bunching the field back up. Miller would restart in second, behind the #16 car of Steven Ashby. Miller would get by Ashby in the next two circuits of the heat race and go on to win the heat and earn a 7th place starting position in the 40 lap $4000 to-win event.
Starting seventh on the grid of the 25 car field, Miller would have to find the groove quick. As the field took the green flag, Miller fired with the rest of the field, entering turn one with a vengeance to get cleared of all the chaos endured with the start of a full field of super late models going for the top spot. Miller would sail by, escaping any problems. Miller dropped down to the eight spot before finding where the GRT chassis would be comfortable riding at on the high banks of Thunderhill Raceway, where else but the high side for Miller. Miller settled in and began to work his car around traffic. In eighth Miller began to battle it out with the seventh place running of #01 Ben Kittrell and ninth running of #56 David Gentry, Miller continuing around the top side, would eventually take Kittrell’s position of seventh. A caution would wave on lap 12 of the event, bunching the field back up. On the restart, Miller sat seventh and went on his way to make ground up to gain one more position and would get as high as the sixth spot, before the second caution fell on lap 22 for the #c66 car of Donald Johns, who blew an engine. On the next restart, a tight battle between Gentry and Miller went on in the later part of the race, as the two fought it out for the sixth spot but Miller would succumbed back to seventh, as a handling issue developed with a few laps remaining in the race. Miller went on to finish seventh in event. Full results can be seen at
