Jason Rauen Scores Pair of Top Fives at I-80; Knoxville Next

by Ben Shelton
Farley, Iowa (09/28/11) – Jason Rauen took his #98 Rauen Motorsports/MB Customs/Pro Power Super Late Model into battle over the weekend in a pair of co-sanctioned events between the Corn Belt Clash and Lucas Oil MLRA and came away with a pair of top five finishes to show for his efforts.

The Lucas Oil MLRA and Corn Belt Clash resumed their 2011 season on Friday night with the opening event of the Cornhusker Classic as 47 entries were on hand for the $3,000-to-win race at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). The night would start well as Jason started fifth in his heat race before charging to the win to earn the third starting spot for the main event. Rauen would look to have a car to contend for the win early in the race before a broken shock created handling issues. He would still battle the ill-handling car to a solid fourth place finish behind race winner, Kyle Berck, Denny Eckrich, and John Anderson.

Saturday night found Jason in action in the second night of the Cornhusker Classic at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) as 46 entries registered for action in the Lucas Oil MLRA and Corn Belt Clash co-sanctioned event. Heat race action saw him race his way to a second place finish to earn the fifth starting spot for the main event. Rauen would run in the top five for the duration of the event before a late race caution allowed him to race his way past Kelly Boen to claim the second spot in the final rundown to race winner, John Anderson. This weekend, September 29th-October 1st, Jason will invade Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) for the 8th Annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals, which will be sanctioned the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). With over a quarter of a million dollars in payout on the line the event gets underway with a $7,000-to-win event on Thursday night before seeing another $7,000-to-win event contested on Friday night. Saturday night's program will be headlined by a $40,000-to-win, 100 lap finale.
