Mike Marlar Records Top Ten in 41st Annual World 100by Ben Shelton
Winfield, Tennessee (09/15/11) – Mike Marlar took the #5 Bryson Motorsports/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle over the course of last weekend in the 41st Annual World 100 and came away with a top ten finish to show for his efforts.
The team entered the 41st Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) last weekend, September 9th-10th, in the #5b Bryson Motorsports Rocket. A talented field of 112 entries took part in the program, and Mike started his weekend by qualifying eighth fastest in time trials to earn the second starting spot for the second heat race on Saturday night. Marlar would run second for much of his heat race before near disaster struck on lap 8, when he lost power entering turn one. He would begin to slow in turn two, and at the same time a crash in turn four would cause the caution to be displayed. Under the caution he was able to get the car refired as he reassumed the second spot. Despite being able to continue he wasn't getting full power to his distributor, and over the closing laps he would slip to the third position, and at the checkered flag, John Blankenship would take the third position by a matter of inches.
Mike would be able to fall back on his qualifying time as the second quickest driver to not make the feature, and as a result, he received the twentieth starting position for the 100 lap, $44,000-to-win event. During the course of the feature he would advance to as high as the eighth position before ultimately finishing in the tenth position. Full results are available at

After originally planning to not race anywhere this weekend the team has decided to enter a pair of $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events in Virginia. Action begins at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) on Friday night before moving to Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia) on Saturday evening.
