Jared Landers Endures Tough End to World 100 Finale

by Ben Shelton
Batesville, Arkansas (09/15/11) – Jared Landers entered the 41st Annual World 100 over the weekend in his #777 Clint Bowyer Motorsports/Rocket/Earnhardt Childress Racing Engine Super Late Model, where he saw his chances for a strong finish come to an end with mechanical issues late in the race.

Track record holder, Jared Landers, returned to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) over the weekend for the 41st Annual World 100 at the 1/2 mile, dirt oval. 112 of the top Super Late Model competitors in the world entered the event, and Landers was the fastest of the competitors during Friday night's hot lap session. In time trials he would register the 15th fastest time and with an invert of three drawn, he would earn the pole position for the third heat on Saturday night. Early in his heat he would jump the cushion causing him to fall back a few spots, and he would only be able to manage a fourth place finish, which relegated him to a b-main.

Landers was slated to start third in the b-main, but after pole-sitter, Jason Feger, was forced to scratch he was moved up to the pole position alongisde, Dave Satterlee. Landers would blast to the lead in the first corner and never looked back on his way to the win, which earned him the 21st starting position for the feature event. Despite starting deep in the field for the 100 lap affair, Jared would quickly work his way through the pack and by lap 60 he was up to the fifth position. He looked to have a shot at working his way to the front of the pack before he jumped the cushion a few laps later causing the nose to collapse under his right front tire. He would battle an ill-handling car for the next several laps before ultimately retiring to a 17th place finish. Full results are available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com.

This weekend the team will return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with a pair of $10,000-to-win events in Virginia. On Friday night the team will be action at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) before moving onto Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia) on Saturday night. Jared continues to lead the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year standings, and is fifth in the overall series' standings. For more information on this weekend's events please visit www.LucasDirt.com.
