Kent Robinson Qualifies for First World 100; Brownstown Next

by Ben Shelton
Bloomington, Indiana (09/14/11) – Kent Robinson took his #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Super Late Model into battle over the weekend, and the end result was his first ever main event start in the World 100.

History was made over the weekend as the team entered the 41st Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the first time ever. 112 of the nation's best drivers converged on the 1/2 mile oval for the $44,000-to-win event. Friday night's time trials would see Robinson record the 43rd fastest time to earn the eighth starting spot for the first heat race on Saturday night.

On Saturday night a wicked fast track would greet the competitors, and Kent would advance to a sixth place finish to earn the seventh starting spot for a b-main. In the b-main he would battle his way to a fifth place finish before seeing fourth place finisher Clint Smith disqualified for being light. As a result, Robinson inherited a fourth place finish and transferred to the 27th starting spot for the 100 lap feature. After making the feature, Robinson would retire early in the race with a vibration in the car. He was credited with a 30th place finish. Although it wasn't the finish he would've liked to record, Kent and the entire team were extremely excited to just make the feature.

The upcoming weekend, September 18th-19th, will see the team in action in a pair of events in Indiana and Illinois. On Saturday night, Kent will enter the $2,500-to-win, 7th Annual Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) before moving on to the rescheduled, $10,000-to-win, Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) on Sunday night.

Kent Robinson Racing would to like to thank all of their sponsors including J&B Salvage, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, Mastersbilt Race Cars, Keyser Manufacturing, DK Designs, VP Race Fuels, Hoosier Racing Tire, GW Performance, All Star Performance, Schaeffer's, Ultra Shield Race Products, AFCO, Bell Helmets, Simpson Race Products, Wiles Drive Shafts, Beyea Custom Headers, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.
