Gregg Satterlee Takes on the 'World', Prepares for 'Pittsburgher'Rochester Mills, PA (September 13) 'The Truth', Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA kicked off the dirt late model major event season this past weekend with a trip to the famed half-mile oval in Rossburg, OH, Eldora Speedway for the 41st Annual 'World 100'.
Before setting sail for the 'World 100' at Eldora Speedway, Gregg and his Satterlee Petroleum Distributers, East American Motorsports, Daugherty Motorsports, Zero Wraps, JNJ Motorsports Media sponsored Rocket Chassis took on the Unified Force Race Championship (UFO) tour and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO) at 'The Bullring', Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV for the 2nd Annual 'Black Diamond' on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3. During Friday's UFO sanctioned event, Gregg won his heat race but was relegated to the 16th place starting position after the redraw. Satterlee advanced to 11th when the checkered fell to end what looked to be a promising night after his heat win. 'I'm surprised they had so many guys in the redraw,' Gregg said, 'you work hard to win your heat and then to be put back like that with the redraw; it just takes the wind out of your sails. That's their format and we knew that going in, we did the best we could with the situation we were faced with.'
The following night was the WoO portion of the 'Black Diamond' where Satterlee would qualify 45th fastest of the 87 entries. Gregg fought his way into the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race to move on to the first of two, 40 lap events that paid $10,000 each to win. After starting 15th on the grid, Gregg settled for a 17th place finish. 'We never really got into a groove at Tyler,' Satterlee quipped. 'We put ourselves behind in time trials and were just never able to get the car where it needed to be.'
After getting rained out at the WoO sanctioned event at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Sunday, September 4, the team packed up and headed to Eldora Speedway for the 41st Annual 'World 100'. Gregg timed in 37th quick of the 112 entrants and finished an impressive fifth in his heat race behind the likes of Six-Time 'World 100' winner Billy Moyer, 2011 Eldora 'Dream' winner Don O'Neal, John Blankenship, and Mike Marlar. The fifth place finish would put Satterlee on the front row of his B-Main. Gregg settled in behind race winner Jared Landers to finish runner-up and to transfer to the $44,000 to win 'World 100' for the second time in as many years. 'To go out to Eldora and qualify for the 'World 100' gives a huge boost of confidence going into the end of the year special events.' Satterlee only completed 35 laps in the main event and was credited with a 25th place finish.
Gregg and his Gregg Satterlee Racing team will be in action this upcoming Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17 at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway for the UFO/ULMS co-sanctioned 'Pittsburgher'. $2,000 will go to Friday's winner while $7,000 will be up for grabs on Saturday.
