Scott James Heads to Big E for World 100 this Weekend

BRIGHT, Ind. (September 8)- Scott James and the #81 team invaded the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday night, September 3 for the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble.'  Scott qualified well in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series time trials and later won his loaded heat race.  In front of the SPEED Channel cameras, Scott started the $10,000 to win feature event from the outside of the front row and paced the talented field for the first thirty-eight circuits.  The Bright, Indiana native retook the lead on lap 40 from Scott Bloomquist, but Bloomquist got into James and flattened his tire on lap 41, which resulted in a very disappointing twenty-first place finish.

On Sunday, September 4, the annual running of the 'Hillbilly 100' was scheduled to take place for the first time at PRP.  Mother Nature had other ideas; however, as the $25,000 to win mega-event was not only postponed on Sunday due to rain showers, but also canceled on Monday because of inclement weather.  Complete results from Saturday's show can be viewed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

“It was definitely disappointing to end our night without a victory at Portsmouth last Saturday,” quoted James this week.  “We had the car to beat, but (Scott) Bloomquist made sure we didn’t win the race.  My car was awesome early, but then the carburetor started stumbling in the corners and that allowed Bloomquist to run with us.  If not for those carb problems, I don’t think he would have been close enough to flatten our tire.  We will put the incident behind us and look to rebound with a strong weekend at Eldora!”

Next up for the #81 Riggs Motorsports team will be a trip to the hallowed grounds of the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 9-10 for the 41st Annual ‘World 100.’  Weather pending, qualifying will be held at the “Big E” on Friday night, while the heat races, consolation events, and the $44,000 to win ‘World 100’ are all slated for Saturday evening.  Scott has transferred into three previous ‘World 100s’ with his best finish (11th) coming back in 2008.  Additional information on the most prestigious event in the Dirt Late Model industry can be accessed by logging onto www.eldoraspeedway.com.
