Scott James Looks Forward to Huge Labor Day Weekend at Portsmouth Raceway Park

BRIGHT, Ind. (August 31) - The Riggs Motorsports team and driver Scott James traveled to the states of Illinois and Kentucky over the August 25-27 extended weekend for a trio of high-profile races.  On Thursday night, the Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois played host to a $5,000 to win MARS DIRTcar Series showdown.  Scott ran second in his heat race in the Land of Lincoln and later rolled off from the outside of the fourth row in the 40-lap feature event.  The Bright, Indiana native, who picked up a UMP Summer Nationals win at Highland back in June, climbed six spots during the A-Main to notch a runner-up finish behind only winner Shannon Babb.

Action quickly turned to the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Friday evening for another $5,000 to win MARS DIRTcar Series battle.  Scott laid down the fastest lap in his group during qualifying and won his heat race, but later suffered problems in the 'World 50' (bent crankshaft) that led to a disappointing fifteenth place effort.  The weekend finale took the #81 team to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky on Saturday for the $10,000 to win 'Bluegrass Classic.'  Scott grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race and then posted an eleventh place finish in the 50-lap Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature event.

Next up for the Riggs Motorsports team will be a trip to the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, September 3-4. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over a pair of big events at PRP over the Labor Day holiday weekend.  On Saturday, the cameras of the SPEED Channel will be in Portsmouth to tape the $10,000 to win ‘Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble.’  The 43rd Annual ‘Hillbilly 100’ will then be held on Sunday night with a stout $25,000 going to the winner.  A $5,000 cash bonus will be awarded if a driver can pull off the lucrative weekend sweep.

Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team would like to thank the following group of sponsors for their continued support:  Clearwave Communications, Murphy Motorsports, JFR Graphics, Rocket Chassis, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, A-1 Technologies, Bert Transmission, Beyea Headers, Braswell Carburetion, Dan Olson Racing Products, Delph Communications, Dyer’s Top Rods, Goodridge, GW Performance, Hoosier Racing Tires, Integra Shocks, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Jones Racing Products, Performance Bodies, Peterson Fluid Systems, R2C Performance, Sweet Mfg., VP Race Fuels, Weld Wheels, Wiles Driveshafts, Wilwood Engineering.
