Kosiski Looks to Pad NCRA Late Model Point Lead This Sunday Nightby David Smith Jr
Park City, Kansas (August 30) - Late model veteran Joe Kosiski of Omaha, Nebraska will lead the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley’s Racing Products DIRTcar late model division to the High Banks of Belleville this coming Sunday night as the tour makes their second and final appearance of the season at the famed half mile oval in Belleville, Kansas.
On the quest of his first career championship with the series, Kosiski comes into the event with a 135 point lead over Dean Moore of Grand Junction, Colorado with three point races still on the 2011 race schedule.
Steve Kempt of Shelton, Nebraska, who has all but wrapped up the inaugural NCRA DIRTcar Great Plains late model region championship, currently sits third in the point standings while former two-time series champion Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kansas sits fourth in the point standings.
Eleven events have been completed on the season and after picking and choosing his races for most of the year, five time and defending series champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado leads the way with three feature victories, all during the past three events that have been held. Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa has two feature victories with Purkey, Brandon McCormick, Jesse Stovall, Brady Smith, Jason Utter and Kempt all reaching victory lane thus far this season.
The series sprint car and modified divisions will also be competing.
Gates open at 6:00 PM with hot laps starting at 6:30 PM. Races are set for a 7:30 PM start time. Tickets are 20 for adults while kids ages fourteen and under are just $5. All pit passes are $25. The Belleville High Banks is located 2.0 miles north of US 36 on US 81, then 0.4 mile southeast on M St. to 7th St., then 0.1 mile east (near the water tower, at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds).
